The Hand of Punta del Este is a quality-crafted sculpture located at Brava Beach in the popular town of Punta del Este, Uruguay. Chilean artist Mario Irarrázaba created the hand partially emerging from the sand in the summer of 1982, and is now a symbol for Punta del Este and a well-known landmark in Uruguay. This masterpiece has been identified as Emergiendo a la Vida (Man Emerging into Life) to Monumento al Ahogado (Monument to the Drowned), but Irarrázaba favors the straightforward title, “The Hand.” ✋🏼🌅
